From the southwest side of France comes our Rooki of the Week, Valentin Lachayze. Both a design student and a design professional who’s studying at Digital Campus and working at the Monette Agency in Bordeaux. He’s worked for a strong line-up of clients including companies like Adobe, SPKTAQLR, and Hello Cognac.

Within seconds of viewing his work, Valentin demonstrates his affinity for simplicity. His Nike x NBA mobile app concept is a superb example of this where he breaks down complex functionality into an easy-to-understand experience. How does he do this? By keeping things simple through appropriate imagery, clear copy, a strong visual hierarchy, and plenty of white space. Less truly is more.

In his branding and logo design work, Valentin has no problem adapting to various different styles and mediums. From Huntt’s modern and whimsical appearance to sunburst’s dark and mysterious, Lachayze reminds us that it’s important to design for our audience and not ourselves.
