America’s got talent and more specifically, Charlotte, North Carolina! It comes in the form of a hard-working design and development student named Ashley Gibson, who’s got some serious game in illustration and visual design. She’s interested in perusing the design landscape for other illustration work that inspires her. Oh, and she also likes cats. Who doesn’t love those cute furballs?

Behold! The Peachy Queen! Ashley’s illustrative branding work for this local brewery in Charlotte is praiseworthy. The linework is super clean and the symmetry promotes a strong, balanced composition. I’m in absolute love with the sparkling peach hovering over the queen as if it were some angelic gift from the gods above. And all that is beautifully captured through the beer label’s metallic finish. Majestic!

Gibson’s poster work, like this one for Iceland, really shows us how far her creativity, and anyone else’s, can extend. She does a great job playing with typography and utilizing the power of curves to create a world where abstractness rules over high. The next time you design, try curving, bending, and twisting the elements at your disposal. Don’t be afraid to get weird and have fun while doing it!

Her web design work is also solid. This concept for a deforestation awareness website does a great job of portraying the seriousness of the problem through copy, typography, and imagery. Everything works in harmony to grasp the user’s attention and to stimulate them into action.
